Apprenticeship Framework in Hairdressing/Barbering

Level 2

The level 2 Hairdressing combined barbering programme provides training to support Apprentices working within the hairdressing industry. It is designed to develop the skills of new and existing employees. The programme is delivered at our Duke St. campus for one day per week, over a 2 year period.

The programme provides theory and practical training in:

• Salon Reception

• Consultation

• Working effectively

• Customer service

• Health and safety

• Shampooing & Condition

• Styling hair

• Setting & Dressing

• Cutting

• Colouring

Optional Barbering Units are:

• Cutting hair using basic barbering skills

• Cut Facial hair

• Dry & Finish hair

• Create basic pattern in hair

Apprentices complete competence based assessments throughout the course. Practical assessments take place in the workplace and at college. Upon successful completion the apprentice will be awarded NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing and Barbering

In addition, training in Functional Skills is made available to those apprentices who need to bring their English and Math up to a level 1.
