Production Arts ( Theatre Technology and Events Management ) BTEC 90 Credit Diploma/Extended Diploma

Theatre Technology course covers all aspects of technical theatre and backstage work including lighting, sound, stage management, set design, scenic construction, prop making.

In order to develop your skills you’ll work as technical and stage management crew on a variety of productions and events, supporting theatre productions, music gigs, dance shows, musical theatre productions and film and TV events.

As well as working on in-house shows you’ll also be given opportunities to work with industry specialists on work experience projects. Previous students have worked in entertainment company’s Adlib Audio & Lighting, Merseysound and Wigwam. Previous students also work in theatres including West End Theatres, Liverpool Empire, Everyman/Playhouse, Epstein Theatre, Royal Court and The Unity.

Former students also work as freelance professionals within the entertainment industry and on international cruise ships.

• Scenic Construction

• Mask Making

This course leads to further study in higher education or professional work in theatre or the entertainment industry in fields such as Production and Stage Management, Lighting and Sound Design and Operation, Set Design and Scenic Construction, Prop and Mask Making.

English and Maths skills are vital for employment and to secure a place on courses at a higher level, including university.

We have a team of tutors who will work with you to achieve these essential qualifications and enable you to apply these skills in your day to day activities and work.

Since September 2013 any young person who does not achieve their GCSE in English language and mathematics at grade C or above will have to continue their studies at college. Students who have a grade D in either subject must study these subjects at GCSE level.
