Vacancy Description   
 
This is a real opportunity for an aspiring hairdresser to gain experience through a Level 2 programme working with our professional stylist. Combined with a study programme at The City of Liverpool College (one day per week) you will be working with our salon team as the business needs someone who has a passion to succeed as a hairdresser.

At first, you will be expected to carry out tasks such as:

  • Greeting customers
  • Shampooing and conditioning hair
  • Making sure towels and supplies are ready for use
  • Keeping the salon clean and tidy
  • Hair ups
  • Starting/Finishing blow dry’s etc

As the apprenticeship progresses, your work will include:

  • Advising on minor hair and scalp problem
  • Making appointments and handling payment
  • Ordering materials
  • Making sure that hair products containing chemicals are used and stored correctly
  • Mixing tints and applying them
  • Some basic cutting.

Situated in the heart of South Liverpool on Aigburth Road, we are a young and vibrant hair and beauty salon. Our team are highly experienced in every aspect of hairdressing, and we offer a unique, tailored service to guests because we recognise that everyone is an individual. We are looking for an apprentice to complement our friendly salon to assist in delivering to service we are proud of.

Qualifications Required
 
Ideally a minimum of GCSE grades A-C in English and Maths but Level 1 in English and Maths Functional Skills is essential. A real passion for hairdressing is the key to this role.
 
Training to be Provided
 
The Hairdressing Level 2 apprenticeship involves attending College one day per week (term-time only, near Duke Street) ) to gain the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hair and Functional Skills Level 1 in English and Maths. IF GCSEs are already held then the apprentice will not need the Functional Skills.
The apprentice will also have workplace visits every 8  weeks for workplace assessment.

Expected Duration
 
Up to 18 months.

Future Prospects
 
On successful completion of the apprenticeship the post will be reviewed and there may be the opportunity of a full-time position. 
 
Working Week
 
From 35 hours per week

Tuesday – Saturday 10-6

During term time, you will be attending The City of Liverpool College 1 day per week.

Important Information to be Considered:

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by the Government for non-levy paying employers. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.
