CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Early Years

Education and Care (VRQ) 16-18

This qualification, delivered by The City of Liverpool College has been approved by the National College of Teaching and Leadership as meeting the Full and Relevant Criteria and has been regulated (accredited) by Ofqual.

The CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. Upon achievement of this qualification it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators.

The course will take two years to complete and will be assessed using a range of methods. This could include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio, written assessments or a task set by your tutor.

The course is made up of a number of units, that explore and develop your work with young people. You will understand children's emotional well-being, understand legislation, framework and professional practice. You will also explore children's development and play. You will also work to support the needs of a child in preparing for school.

All of our Study Programmes are designed to help you to develop your skills and widen your college experience.

What you should expect from your Study Programme:

  • A substantial qualification e.g. GCSE, A level or vocational equivalent
  • Meaningful work experience
  • Help to achieve GCSE English and maths at grades A*-C if you do not already have them
  • Practical activities that help your personal development including study skills, enrichment activities, employability training and classes in personal and social skills to get you ready for further education or employment.
  • Support to enable you to progress to the next level of study or employment

English and Maths

English and Maths skills are vital for employment and to secure a place on courses at a higher level, including university.

We have a team of tutors who will work with you to achieve these essential qualifications and enable you to apply these skills in your day to day activities and work.

Since September 2013 any young person who does not achieve their GCSE in English language and mathematics at grade C or above will have to continue their studies at college. Students who have a grade D in either subject must study these subjects at GCSE level.
