Air Cabin Crew City &

Guilds Level 2 Diploma

A new and exciting qualification here at The City of Liverpool College, that is designed to assist learners to find their first role working as part of a cabin crew. Cabin crew is a diverse, social and well travelled career that is popular among our students. The course is designed for 16 – 18 year old students who want broad–based vocational preparation for employment in a Cabin Crew role.

The course is delivered over a 30 week programme. It contains 6 core units as well as an individually designed combination of English and maths. It also includes a food beverage qualification which incorporates theory as well as practical sessions essential for the industry. There will also be an option for a First Aid qualification as well as a language.

As part of the programme, there may be additional costs linked to uniforms as well as various out of college trips especially to Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool John Lennon Airports. There is also a mandatory trip to London where learners visit the British Airways training centre and spend two days training as cabin crew. This is an exciting learning experience where students are involved in activities such as fire fighting and emergency evacuations.

This course meets the needs of candidates who work or want to work as Air Cabin Crew in the aviation sector. It allows candidates to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the aviation sector. The course contributes to the knowledge and understanding towards the related Level 2 Aviation Operation sin the Air-Cabin Crew, whilst containing additional skills and knowledge. It provides a broad background of understanding of the aviation sector and the vocational skills required.

What you should expect from your Study Programme:

  • A substantial qualification e.g. GCSE, A level or vocational equivalent
  • Meaningful work experience
  • Help to achieve GCSE English and maths at grades A*-C if you do not already have them
  • Practical activities that help your personal development including study skills, enrichment activities, employability training and classes in personal and social skills to get you ready for further education or employment.
  • Support to enable you to progress to the next level of study or employment

English and Maths

English and Maths skills are vital for employment and to secure a place on courses at a higher level, including university.

We have a team of tutors who will work with you to achieve these essential qualifications and enable you to apply these skills in your day to day activities and work.

Since September 2013 any young person who does not achieve their GCSE in English language and mathematics at grade C or above will have to continue their studies at college. Students who have a grade D in either subject must study these subjects at GCSE level.

- Progression to Level 3 Travel and Tourism or Aviation (need to achieve merits or distinctions at level 2 and have excellent general performance)
