Working Week: Starting at £5:00 per hour, minimum 30 hours per week, inclusive of one day per week in college, after 12 months on the programme this would lincrease to the national minimum wage rate dependant on the particular age group.

Wage: From £5:00 per hour, with the potential to increse to £6:00 per hour after a success initial probationary period.

 

Vacancy Description   

We are looking to recruit an apprentice chef for our new bar and restaurant in Liverpool city centre in Wolstenholme Square. We need an apprentice commis chef to help prepare and cook our menu that uses local fresh ingredients that offers traditional wholesome food.

You will gain great experience here learning how to prepare restaurant meals from our chefs.

  • Maintain health, hygiene and safety when storing and preparing food
  • Prepare basic vegetable dishes
  • Prepare breakfast items in our house style
  • Prepare basic meat and poultry dishes
  • Prepare pasta dishes
  • Prepare basic soups
  • Prepare basic fish dishes
  • Set up and close kitchen
  • Take directions and guidance from supervisors and managers.

Employer Description

Clockworks is a new bar and restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. We specialise in in comfort and traditional food ranging from sandwiches to hot wholesome British menu classics such as fish and chips and meat and vegetable dishes.

Skills Required

  • Ideally some previous experience in food preparation
  • Able to work in a food preparation environment

Qualifications Required  

Ideally a Level 1 catering/hospitality qualification and a minimum of Entry Level 3 in Maths and English but a real passion and interest in cooking is the key to this role.

  

Training to be Provided

NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Hospitality Services (Food Preparation) – one day per week at Duke Street site in Liverpool city centre plus Functional Skills in English and Maths if required.

 

Expected Duration

12-15 Months

 Other Important Information/Reality Check

Working in the catering industry requires dedication, commitment, and hard work, many of the hours are anti-social and involve late finishes, so suitable travel arrangements need to be considered.

Important Information to be Considered:

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by the Government for non-levy paying employers. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.
