Vacancy Description  

Working in our Callam W salon at our five-star Hillbark Hotel & Spa this is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring hairdresser to gain experience through a Level 2 programme working with our top-class stylists. Combined with a study programme at The City of Liverpool College you will be working with our salon team as the business needs someone who has a passion to succeed as a hairdresser.

We are looking for a junior apprentice to develop their skills in hairdressing in our Callam W salon :

At first, you will be expected to carry out tasks such as:

• greeting customers

• shampooing hair

• making sure towels and supplies are ready for use

• Keeping the salon clean and tidy. As the apprenticeship progresses Your work will include:

• shampooing and conditioning

• advising on minor hair and scalp problems

• making appointments and handling payments

• ordering materials

• Making sure that hair products containing chemicals are used and stored correctly

• Mixing tints and applying them

• Starting/Finishing blow dry’s etc

• Some basic cutting

Our team are constantly updating techniques at the Sassoon Academies, one of the many benefits of being a Sassoon partner salon. We also have access to the main Fashion Weeks in London, backstage our team prepare the hair for some of London’s finest fashion houses. Our senior team travel the world delivering seminars and education at the highest level. Keeping us at the forefront of our business.

Future Prospects   

On successful completion of the apprenticeship the post will be reviewed and there may be the opportunity of a full-time position and/or progression.

Qualifications Required:

Ideally a minimum of GCSE grades D-E but a Level 1 in English and Maths Functional Skills would have to be gained by the end of the programme. A real passion for hairdressing is the key to this role.

Apprenticeship Framework:

Level 2 Hairdressing Apprenticeship

Training to be provided:   

The Hairdressing Level 2 apprenticeship involves attending College one day per week (term-time only, near Duke Street) to gain the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hair and Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths. IF GCSEs are already held then the apprentice will not need the Functional Skills.

The apprentice will also have workplace visits every 3-4 weeks for workplace assessment/review.

Important Information to be Considered:

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by the Government for non-levy paying employers. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.

NB Must have good transport access to the salon. The hotel is set within the grounds of Royden Park and there is a 10 minute walk to bus-stops, main road. Ideally your own motor or bike transport would be suitable.
