IOSH Working Safely Course

(Level 1)

This course is for aimed for people working at any level, in any sector, needing a grounding in the essentials of safety and health. It is essential everyone at work should have an understanding of why they must ‘work safely’ – this course will help you ascertain that.

From this course your employer will get a nationally recognised and respected certificated training for their teams/employees. This Working Safely course covers content delivered in similar courses, such as Health and Safety Executive ‘passport’ syllabus.

This course covers the following contents:

1. Introducing Working Safely - Stresses the human suffering behind the statistics and emphasises the importance of personal responsibility.

2. Defining hazard and risk - Puts ‘hazard’ and ‘risk’ into everyday language – makes clear that even something that is very simple or repeated over and over again can go wrong.

Asked to think about their hazards and risks they come across in their own work and realise that they make informal Risk Assessments on a daily basis.

3. Identifying common hazards - Main issues covered in this module: entrances and exits, work traffic, fire, chemicals, electricity, physical and verbal abuse, bullying, stress, noise and the working environment, slips, trips and falls, and manual handling.

4. Improving safety performance - Making sure that any jargon is easily understood. Bridges the jap between management and the workforce so that everyone plays a part in improving health and safety. Covers also: contract work, inspections, safe systems and permits; protective equipment, signage, emergency procedures, reporting and health checks.

5. Protecting our environment - A short but effective introduction to waste and pollution.

This course costs: £120 and will be assessed by written and practical assessment.

You will be able to progress onto higher levels courses, such as IOSH level 2. It will also enhance your employment opportunities and/or support you in your current role.
