This course is suitable for all individuals working in Health Care, Residential Care, Supported Living or Day Centres in a supervisory role. The course will provide candidates with the opportunity to gain a level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care and licence to practice within Health & Social Care organisations. This course will enable the student to gain a better understanding of client needs, providing care, support and supervision of staff members.

Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care focuses on both Health and Care settings, provision of care and support of client needs and maintaining client independence as well as theories and perspectives within Health and Social Care supervision.

Nine Mandatory core units are to be completed to achieve 28 credits and an extensive choice of specialist knowledge and competence units to achieve the required 58 credits overall. These can be achieved through three Pathways; Generic, Dementia and Learning Disability

Some examples of specialist knowledge and competence units are;

• Understand the context of supporting an individual with learning disabilities

• Understand models of disability

• Plan and implement development activities

• Support individuals to live at home

Elements of this Diploma are competence work based and all Level 3 Diplomas in Health and Social care require work competence assessment. Employers will be required to be engaged in the assessment process regarding support of assessor visits and assessment appointments. Some areas of the Diploma are context specialist knowledge based so there is a level of independent learning expected. This can be achieved through the completion of workbooks and case studies which will provide evidence.
