An ideal qualification for those who have achieved a full Level 2 Gym Instructor or Diploma in Instruction Exercise & Fitness. This qualification will enable you to set up in business as a Personal Trainer or work for one of the large health & fitness companies now operating in the region.

The units are:

• Anatomy & Physiology for Exercise & Health.

• Principles of exercise, Fitness & Health.

• Promote Health, Safety, & Welfare in Active Leisure & Recreation.

• Reflect on & Develop own Practice in Providing Exercise & Physical Activity.

• Motivate Clients to Maintain Long Term Adherence to Exercise & Physical Activity.

• Evaluate Exercise & Physical Activity Programmes.

• Design, Manage & Adapt a Personal Training Programme with Clients.

• Deliver Exercise & Physical Activity as part of a Personal Training Programme.

• Apply the Principles of Nutrition to Support Client Goals as part of an Exercise & Physical Activity Programme.

• There is also the potential to take an additional unit – Plan, Market & Sell Services is demand is high enough.

This course is continuously assessed using a range of methods including course work, practical assignments, observation in a real working environment by assessors, oral questioning and written underpinning knowledge booklets, practical assessment with supporting evidence, and a portfolio of evidence. The assessments are formal and practical assessments are based on your ability to work as a fitness instructor and with clients as a personal trainer.

You will be expected to undertake regular home study on this course & purchase a College Sports kit to be worn during practical sessions. The price of your kit will depend on your age and you will receive more information at your interview.

If you are over 24 this course is 24+ Learning Loan eligible, which can fully cover the course fee. The fee for this course is £2,882 for the academic year 15/16.

  • Help to achieve GCSE English and maths at grades A*-C if you do not already have them
  • Practical activities that help your personal development including study skills, enrichment activities, employability training and classes in personal and social skills to get you ready for further education or employment.
  • Support to enable you to progress to the next level of study or employment

English and Maths skills are vital for employment and to secure a place on courses at a higher level, including university.

We have a team of tutors who will work with you to achieve these essential qualifications and enable you to apply these skills in your day to day activities and work.

Since September 2013 any young person who does not achieve their GCSE in English language and mathematics at grade C or above will have to continue their studies at college. Students who have a grade D in either subject must study these subjects at GCSE level.
