Size and scope
Liverpool Community College is one of the largest general further education colleges
in the country. It is the only further education sector institution in Liverpool,
formed in 1991 by an amalgamation of four former colleges.
On average the college has over 17,000 students. Nearly 5,000 of this group are aged
16-18 years old.
Since 1999 the college has developed five purpose-built centres and one completely
refurbished centre, which represents investment of around £47 million. The college
has a network of 12 Community Learning Centres serving all parts of the city.
Quality
The college was inspected by Ofsted and the Adult Learning Inspectorate in February
2009. Of the six areas inspected, five were judged 'outstanding', one was
graded good.
This ranks the college amongst the best General & Further Education
Colleges in the country.
In December 2005 the college was awarded Beacon College Status in recognition of its
outstanding performance.
