How can Student Services help me?

Our staff are here to help you to make good choices and support you along the way. We will do this….

  • While you are thinking about your options
  • Throughout your course
  • Before you leave us to go on to higher education or employment

If you need advice and guidance to help you to think about your first step, our team of Career and Learning Advisers are able to talk to you about your interests and career ideas and help you to plan a route to achieve your goal. They can also give you advice about other things that might be worrying you about coming to college, whether you are coming straight from school or after some time away from education, such as finance, childcare and support to study.

If you are a young person under 19, Connexions Personal Advisers can also help you with career planning and job search and provide support and information on health, lifestyle and a range of other issues.

If you decide to join one of our courses, our staff are here to support you along the way. You are always welcome to come and see us if you need us and, if you are at one of the 5 main centres, our staff will come to see you a couple of times a year to talk about your next step.

When you are approaching the end of your studies, you may be starting to think about moving on to higher education or looking for employment. If you are applying for University, our staff will support you through your UCAS application and if you are considering employment, we will help you with your CV and interview preparation.

How can I contact you?

You can book an appointment to see one of our Career and Learning Advisers or, if you prefer, you can drop-in but you will need to check our opening times as our service varies at a couple of centres

What if I need more detailed advice?

Our staff will be able to make you an appointment to see one of our Student Finance and Welfare Officers if you need them or, if you are an international student, a member of our team who can help you with fees and visa issues. We can also put you in touch with other parts of the College service for things like study support, nurseries and counselling.

Do you want to know what I think about Student Services?

Yes we do! Our quality standards are very important to us. We are interested in finding out how well we do when you are making your first enquiry and at all the other times you meet us during your study. We’re also really interested in what you think about the information on our web page space.
You can complete our feedback form called “How did we do?” either later on in Student Services, or here on our web page if you have some views already!
