Learner Representatives:
the student voice
Last updated on 3/16/2009
Every full time course across the college is entitled to nominate a Student Representative (Rep).
Learner Reps from across the college attend three meetings per year (one per term) to put forward
views and opinions from the class/group they have been chosen to represent. These opinions will be
considered when decisions are made about future development of the college. Your tutor will also invite
you to attend course team meetings where you can put forward suggestions and ideas directly relating
to the course you study.
Nominations for learner representatives are made during tutorials in September/October with rep
training taking place in November.
In addition to the Learner Rep role other opportunities for students to take on leadership
responsibility include:
- Student Governor (x2)
- Learner Council/Student Association Committee
- Student Eye Editor
- Student Eye staff writers team
- Learner Voice Conference Delegate
- NUS National Conference Delegate
