Adult Learner Grant
Last updated on 3/2/2009
What is it?
If aged 19+ (on 31st August) and going back to college to study for your first full Level 2 or first
full Level 3 qualification, the Adult Learning Grant (ALG) could pay you up to £30 per week*
(Level 2 qualifications are equivalent to five or more GCSEs at grades A*
to C or NVQ level 2. Level 3 qualifications are equivalent to two A levels or NVQ
level 3). ALG is there to help out with costs like travel and books while you're
studying.
People who go back to college later in life often find that they're more focused
and determined that they were first time around, and tend to have a clearer idea of
that they want to study.
It's never too late to learn new skills – and if you’re eligible for ALG, it
could be more affordable than you think.
For more information contact Learner Services or call the Adult Learner Grant
helpline Monday to Friday between 7.00am – 8.00pm on 0800 121 8989
*Learners must maintain a 100% attendance to receive their weekly payments, from
the payment body, Capita.
