Help with Travel Costs

Students aged 16-18 years old
You can apply for travel support if:

  • You live more than 2 miles away from the college centre you are attending

                                                            AND

  • You come from a family on one of the following means tested benefits:-

Job Seekers Allowance
Income Support
Income Based Employment and Support Allowance
Working Tax Credit (Household income under £15,276)
Pension Guarantee Credit
Young unaccompanied Asylum Seekers funded through ASS
Please note:

  • Students in receipt of EMA or the College Progress Bursary will not be eligible for this support.

Students aged 19 and over
You can apply for travel support if:

  • You live more than 1 mile away from the college centre you are attending

                                                            AND

  • You receive or are dependent on someone who is receiving one of the following means tested benefits:-

Job Seekers Allowance
Income Support
Income Based Employment and Support Allowance
Working Tax Credit (Household income under £15,276)
Pension Guarantee Credit
Housing Benefit/Local Housing Allowance
Council Tax Benefit

                                                            OR

  • Your household income is £20,000 pa or under.

Depending on how many days you are attending college and where you are travelling from, the college can offer bus passes, bus tokens or rail passes (some may require a contribution).
Early application is essential. The fund has a limited amount and once used will be closed. Please speak to Student Services for more information.
