Course informationThis is a well established programme, ideally suited to aspiring artists and designers seeking to develop the necessary artistic and personal skills which will enable them to secure places to study at degree level. The course is a broad and exciting Art & Design programme. As a Foundation student you will be involved in drawing, painting, fashion, textiles, installation art, printmaking, graphic illustration, 3D design, 3D fine art. You will receive a thorough preparation to enable you to make informed decisions about the area in which you might wish to specialise on degree or other higher level courses. There are three formal assessment points. Foundation students are also supported by in-depth tutorials, both individual and group and a comprehensive programme of guidance to ensure your success in applying for Higher Education. The programme has a reputation for placing students on some highly recognised degree programmes such as Leeds College of Art, Goldsmiths, London College of Communication, Wimbledon Central St Martins, London College of Fashion, Northumbria, Nottingham Trent and Manchester Metropolitan University.
Our induction programme is delivered both on and off site. Our students progress to employment within the Creative industries for example, Alexander McQueen, Apple, and freelance Graphic Designers.
This course is Advanced Learner Loan eligible, which can fully cover the course fee.
QualificationsUAL Foundation Diploma in Art and Design
This course leads to...University art based degrees, HNC/HND programmes. It may also lead to areas of employment which ask for art expertise and experience. All Foundation Diploma students are guaranteed interviews on The City of Liverpool College HNC/HND Art Practice, HNC/HND Fashion or HNC/HND Photography programmes.
Entry RequirementsA minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, which must include English Language, Maths & Art, plus 2 A levels and a portfolio of art and design work. Applicants with an exceptional portfolio of art work at 19+ will be considered individually. All applicants will be given an impartial, diagnostic interview.
