What to expect from the course
- At the City of Liverpool College, our Hair and Media Make-up programme enables you to learn both aspects of hairdressing and media make-up.
This exciting qualification will provide you with all the skills and techniques to enable you to provide effective client care, the art of applying make-up or photographic makeup, the creative art of dressing hair and the unit that covers creating an image using both hairdressing and media make-up skills.
You'll develop an excellent knowledge and understanding of each unit including the health and safety for all services. The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in both hairdressing and media make-up to a high level of occupational ability, to eventually enable you to perform your own salon services.
This course is fast paced, creative and delivered to a strict time scale. We are looking for highly motivated students who are able to work positively as a member of a team and independently. You'lll also undertake some invaluable work experience to prepare you for industry.Qualifications

Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

Microsoft Office 365 - Free
When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.
Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite
The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.
Career pathways
- Once you successfully complete your course you may be able to progress to the next level, following a satisfactory interview with a tutor. If you've finished your Level 3 course you will be offered advice and guidance from our Careers Advisors on how to apply for a place at University through UCAS, or how to apply for a job or an Apprenticeship.
Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 courses generally last for one year.

Entry Requirements
The following is a guide as to what you might be expected to achieve to gain entry onto the course.
A minimum of 3 GCSEs grade 3 (previously D) or above including Maths and English language OR a minimum of 4 GCSEs grade 3 or above including Maths and English Language and a relevant subject qualification or a minimum of a Level 1 course in chosen subject at merit or above and English language and Maths at Level 1.
An enthusiasm and passion to succeed and develop yourself with great attendance will be vital to you achieving success on this course.

Fees
If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free. If you are aged between 19-23 and don’t already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, and you need to study at Entry or Level 1 to progress to Level 2, you won't have to pay any fees for this course.
