Course Details

  • This Level 3 front of house supervisory course qualification is studied over 1 year.
  • Suitable for those working in, or wishing to enter, the hospitality sector at supervisory level.
  • The main core subjects will help nurture a better understanding of supervisory requirements, and how to maintain and develop positive working relationships within the service industry.
  • You will develop confidence through applying your skills in a number of real work environment, including the College's award winning Academy Restaurant.
  • Your progress is achieved through professional discussion, observation and candidate reports.

What to expect from the course

You will be supervising others within our fantastic award winning Academy Restaurant. By the end of the course within our busy, realistic working environment you will be demonstrating high-end industry skills and leading the service to your junior front of house colleagues.

Your progress is achieved through the following modules:

1. Supervise the work of staff
2. Establish and develop positive working relationships in hospitality
3. Contribute to the control of resources
4. Maintain the health, hygiene, safety and security of the working environment
5. Manage yourself

You are required to take three additional units, which you will agree with your assessor.

This award is assessed via observation, professional discussion, witness testimony, candidate reports and at times during sessions within the College's Academy Restaurant.

VRQ Level 3 Diploma in Food & Beverage Service Supervision.

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

Microsoft Office 365 - Free

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.


Career pathways

Achievement of the course leads to team/section leader roles and junior management positions within food and beverage outlets, including hotels, restaurants, event catering, cafes and bistros.

You would also have the option to progress to further study of Hospitality Management at higher education level.

Entry Requirements

The following is a guide as to what you might be expected to achieve to gain entry onto the course.

A minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4 (previously C) or above including Maths and English Language OR a minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above including Maths and English Language and relevant subject qualification OR a minimum of Level 2 course in your chosen subject at merit or above and English Language and Maths at Level 2.

An enthusiasm and passion to succeed and develop yourself with great attendance will be vital to you achieving success on this course.

Fees

If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free. If you are aged between 19 or over and don’t have 2 A-Levels (or equivalent), you won't have to pay any fees for this course.

19 years old or over and have 2 A-Levels (or equivalent) at the start of the course? Fees are payable, but you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of your course. Please note this is a two year programme that consists of two courses. Your fee status may change from one year to the next depending on age and circumstance at the start of the next course e.g. if you turn 19 before progressing to the next level, you may be required to pay fees as outlined above.
