Course Content

You will work with specialist practitioners to study contemporary theatre performance, voice and the actor, film and television acting, physical theatre, classical theatre performance, the practice of directing for theatre, and script writing.

The Level 3 Acting course gives you the opportunity to study a wide variety of subjects with some of the leading practitioners within the industry. Whether working in our rehearsal rooms, theatre or HD TV studio you will be an active member of the leading Level 3 Acting course in the North West of England.

What will I learn?

Covering everything from Ancient Greek Theatre to the world of the latest unexplored performance areas, via a route that takes in Physical theatre, Shakespeare, Filming, Voice and Contemporary, the Level 3 Acting course at COLC is recognised by some of the finest Drama Schools and Universities in the country for its outstanding teaching and the calibre of the students it produces.

Alongside these you will have constant acting classes to develop your performance skills, training within the world of Performing Arts Business as well as the opportunity to spend a year working in a small group with a dedicated theatre director to create a professional show which will enjoy a run on one of the largest stages in Liverpool. You will also spend time working one to one with a Director to prepare the audition speeches you will need to take your next steps.

During your time with us you will have the opportunity to take part in trips to theatres to see some of the most exciting new performance pieces in the country and take part in Masterclasses led by industry professionals. You will come with us to visit the West End of London on a two day experience to see the shows you’ve heard so much about and take part in workshops at such institutes such as The Globe Theatre, The Young Vic and Pineapple Studios.

Taught by a dedicated staff body who have worked at some of the leading performance organisations both Nationally and Internationally, the Level 3 Diploma in Acting is the course for anyone who is serious about a lifelong, exciting and fulfilling career in Theatre and Television Performance.

All of our Study Programmes are designed to help you to develop your skills and widen your college experience.

What you should expect from your Study Programme:

  • A substantial qualification e.g. GCSE, A level or vocational equivalent
  • Meaningful work experience
  • Help to achieve GCSE English and maths at grades A*-C if you do not already have them
  • Practical activities that help your personal development including study skills, enrichment activities, employability training and classes in personal and social skills to get you ready for further education or employment.
  • Support to enable you to progress to the next level of study or employment

English and Maths

English and Maths skills are vital for employment and to secure a place on courses at a higher level, including university.

We have a team of tutors who will work with you to achieve these essential qualifications and enable you to apply these skills in your day to day activities and work.

Since September 2013 any young person who does not achieve their GCSE in English language and mathematics at grade C or above will have to continue their studies at college. Students who have a grade D in either subject must study these subjects at GCSE level.
