Vacancy Description   

We are seeking a keen and eager junior hairdressing apprentice to work in our popular salon in Wallasey through a Level 2 apprenticeship programme. You will also study one day per week at The City of Liverpool College (Duke Street site) to gain the underpinning knowledge whilst working at our salon 4 days per week.

This is a great opportunity for an aspiring hairdresser to gain experience through a Level 2 programme. Working with experienced stylists in our salon in Wallasey in the business needs someone who has a passion to succeed as a hairdresser.

We are looking for a junior apprentice to develop their skills in hairdressing:

At first, you will be expected to carry out tasks such as:

• greeting customers

• shampooing hair

• making sure towels and supplies are ready for use

• Keeping the salon clean and tidy.

As the apprenticeship progresses Your work will include:

• shampooing and conditioning

• advising on minor hair and scalp problems

• making appointments and handling payments

• ordering materials

• Making sure that hair products containing chemicals are used and stored correctly

As you progress there will also be an opportunuty for some cutting experience

We have a team of experienced hair stylists who work alongside our beauticians.

We are a Wella and L'Anza approved salon, we also do Crystal Clear, OPI and St Tropez. We're a fun fresh salon providing free initial consultations.

Skills Required

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Courteous
  • Some exisitng skills in styling and blow-drying hair would be beneficial
  • Able to work with hands

Qualifications Required

 Ideally a minimum of GCSE grades D-E OR Level 1 in English and Maths. A real passion for hairdressing is the key to this role, combined with a positive attitude.


Training to be Provided

The Hairdressing Level 2 apprenticeship involves attending College one day per week (term-time only, near Duke Street) ) to gain the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hair and Functional Skills Level 1 in English and Maths. IF GCSEs are already held then the apprentice will not need the Functional Skills.

The apprentice will also visits every 4-6 weeks for workplace assessment and review.


Expected Duration

 Up to 18 months


Future Prospects   

On successful completion of the apprenticeship the post will be reviewed and there may be the opportunity of a full-time position.

Important Information

Must have good transport access to the salon.

As part of the selection process there would be an initial interview and a trial period. There would be a 3 month probationary period as part of the programme.

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by the Government for non-levy paying employers. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.
