Our salon had had a recent complete makeover, new look, new products, new treatments. We offer the latest styles from a great team to customers from across the Wirral.


Vacancy  Description

We are looking for an apprentice with some experience and who, preferably, is already Level 2 qualified.

This is an ideal opportunity for an aspiring hairdresser who has easy access to our salon in Heswall and can study one day per week at The City of Liverpool College to gain working experience through a Level 3 programme. Working with experienced stylists the salon needs someone who has a passion to succeed as a hairdresser.

As a Level 3 apprentice you will be working towards delivering the following functions:

• Provide hairdressing consultation services

• Creatively cutting hair using a combination of techniques

• Promote additional services or products to customers

• Monitor procedures to safely control work operations

• Colour hair using a variety of techniques

• Provide colour correction services

• Creatively style and dress hair 

You will also help with the following tasks:

• shampooing and conditioning

• advising on minor hair and scalp problems

• making appointments and handling payments

• ordering materials

• Making sure that hair products containing chemicals are used and stored correctly

• Mixing tints and applying them

• Starting/Finishing blow dry’s etc.


Working Week

A minimum of 30 hours per week. One day per week will be in College supported by the employer


Skills Required

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to work with hands
  • Excellent customer service skills


Qualifications required

Ideally a minimum of GCSE grades A-C but a Level 2 in English and Maths Functional Skills would have to be gained by the end of the programme. A real passion for hairdressing is the key to this role.

Training to be provided

The Hairdressing Level 3 apprenticeship involves attending College one day per week (term-time only, near Duke Street) to gain the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hair and Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths. If GCSEs are already held then the apprentice will not need the Functional Skills. 

The apprentice will also have workplace visits every 8 weeks for workplace assessment.

Expected duration - 24 months


Future Prospects

On successful completion of the apprenticeship the post will be reviewed and there may be the opportunity of a full-time position

Must have good transport access to the salon.

Other Important Information to be Considered

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by the Government for non-levy paying employers. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.
