The City of Liverpool College offers this one-year course which is designed for students over 17 years of age who want a fast track media production foundation. The course will offer the skills to equip students with the necessary experience and qualifications for progression to a wide range of university courses.

The course is highly practical with learning taking place using a range of professional production and digital equipment.

Students will begin by:-

• Examining theoretical and practical work relating to key aspects of narrative,

• Genre, and film styles,

• Ideas generation,

• Storyboarding,

• Production.

Students develop their skills and understanding across all practical roles related to moving-image production, during the course students create an on-going portfolio of their own individual work which leads to the final major project that reflects the skills they have learnt their interests as well as future career or progression routes. By completing the one year programme students can gain 285 UCAS point.

This course is Advanced Learning Loan eligible, which can fully cover the course fee. The fee for this course is £5,421 for the academic year 15/16.

What you should expect from your Study Programme:

  • A substantial qualification e.g. GCSE, A level or vocational equivalent
  • Meaningful work experience
  • Help to achieve GCSE English and maths at grades A*-C if you do not already have them
  • Practical activities that help your personal development including study skills, enrichment activities, employability training and classes in personal and social skills to get you ready for further education or employment.
  • Support to enable you to progress to the next level of study or employment

English and Maths

English and Maths skills are vital for employment and to secure a place on courses at a higher level, including university.

We have a team of tutors who will work with you to achieve these essential qualifications and enable you to apply these skills in your day to day activities and work.

Since September 2013 any young person who does not achieve their GCSE in English language and mathematics at grade C or above will have to continue their studies at college. Students who have a grade D in either subject must study these subjects at GCSE level.
