College joins forces with city business to launch chef academy

The City of Liverpool College has teamed up with a north-west employer to address the growing need for culinary skills in the Liverpool City Region.

The College, in partnership with Living Ventures, will launch its Chef Academy in a bid to tackle the shortage of skilled chefs in the region's flourishing hospitality sector.

The Academy will run an employer-led apprenticeship programme that provides a career path for young people joining the industry from the city and Merseyside region. The programme targets 16-24 year-olds and offers candidates attendance at the College one day a week to fulfill the qualification element of the apprenticeship programme, while their remaining time is spent at Living Ventures facilities for on-the-job training.

Candidates will also gain insight from experienced chefs on the Living Ventures team and have motivational talks from others in the industry alongside specialised training in different areas of hospitality.
