Vacancy Description   

We are looking to recruit a keen and personable individual as a (mainly) front-of-house, food service catering apprentice at our new delicatessen in Crosby. You must have a real interest in serving food and you will also be required to help prepare freshly cut sandwiches, etc and using the till.

We are looking to recruit a keen and personable individual as a (mainly) front-of-house, food service catering apprentice at our new delicatessen in Crosby. You must have a real interest in serving food and experiencing great customer services.

This is a real all-rounder catering role but essentially the job is about serving customers and making sure that our delicatessen is clean, presentable and serves great food and drinks.

You would take orders and serve customers with their chosen drinks or food orders. You do not need any particular qualifications to start in this job but you will need to be a good team-worker, have excellent customer service skills and be interested in food preparaiton.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • greeting customers as they arrive

  • taking orders for food and drink face to face at tables

  • serving hot food and hot drinks to the table

  • serving customers using a till system

  • making sure the premises are clean and tidy.

  • Some basic food preparation as required

Employer Description

This Is Livin Bar & Grill opened in September 2015, with a vision to create a relaxed, local dining experience. Returning to Liverpool after owning a successful restaurant in London, the restauranteur (a former head chef) uses locally sourced produce, to create expertly cooked dishes, influenced by everyone's family favourites.

Using our knowledge and expertise we are now opening a new local delicatessen using freshly prepared meat, poultry, vegetable and assorted dishes and ingredients.


Skills Required

  • Ideally previous experience of working in a food service environment will help but is not essential.

  • Able to keep calm and positive in a pressured environment

Qualifications Required

Ideally GCSEs in English and Maths grades A-C but these are not essential. A real interest in food /customer service, willingness to be involved with food preparation and commitment to studies is the key to achieving this apprenticeship.


Training to be Provided

NVQ Level 2 in Hospitality Services (Food Preparation) – one day per week at Duke Street site in Liverpool city centre plus Functional Skills in English and Maths if required.


Expected Duration
12-15 Months


Working Week

From 30 hours. 10am – 10pm Sunday to Thursday and 10am – 12pm Friday and Saturday

This will include one day per week in The City of Liverpool College (term time only)

The prospect of a full-time role is here on successful completion of your apprenticeship programme.

Other Important Info

Able to easily access the business via public/personal transport as shifts can finish late

Willingness to keep the premises clean and tidy therefore some basic cleaning duties are required.

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by the Government for non-levy paying employers. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.
