The Liverpool Inn is a friendly Irish family owned hotel based in an excellent city centre location in Liverpool, ideally located close by many local attractions such as Liverpool One, St Georges Hall, Empire Theatre, Albert Dock, Echo Arena, The Beatles Museum, Anfield Stadium, Goodison Park and within a few minutes walk from Lime Street Station.

The hotel boasts fifteen stylish and contemporary en-suite bedrooms, which come equipped with televisions and free wi-fi. The Liverpool Inn prides its self on high quality service with great competitive rates.

 

Vacancy Description

We are seeking a friendly, courteous and organised person to be our front-of-house/recerption apprentice to work in our inn-hotel in the heart of Liverpool city centre. As the initial contact for our customers, the successful applicant would be involved in a multi-functional role that will offer the opportunity to develop a range of skills and knowledge in the hospitality sector.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Through the workplace and via attending College one day a week you will develop knowledge and skills and perform duties in the following:

  • Deal with arrival of customers

  • Deal with bookings

  • Prepare customer accounts and deal with departures

  • Use office equipment including IT

  • Give customers a positive impression of yourself and the hotel

  • Deal with incoming telephone calls from customers

  • Resolve customer service problems

  • Deal with customer across a language divide

  • Maintain and deal with payments

  • Serve hot and cold drinks

Skills Required

  • Customer service skills
  • Positive attitude
  • Ideally previous experience of working in a customer service environment will help but is not essential

 

Personal Qualities of Candidate

  • Positive personality
  • Great with people
  • Able to keep calm and positive in a pressured environment

 

Qualifications

Ideally GCSEs in English and Maths grades A-C but these are not essential. A real interest in food /customer service, willingness to be involved with food preparation and commitment to studies is the key to achieving this apprenticeship.

 

Training to be provided

NVQ Level 2 in – Hospitality Services: Front-of-House, one day per week at Duke Street site in Liverpool city centre plus Functional Skills Level 1  in English and Maths if required.

 

Working Week

From 30 hours per week. This will include one day per week in The City of Liverpool College (term time only).

 

Expected Duration

12 to 15 months

 

Future Prospects

The prospect of a full-time role is here on successful completion of your apprenticeship programme.

 

Important Information

Willingness to keep the premises clean and tidy therefore some basic cleaning duties are required.

 

Other Important Information

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by the Government for non-levy paying employers. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.
