Creative Craft: Fashion, NCFE

Level 3 Certificate

This qualification is aimed specifically for 19+ students who are seeking employment in the fashion industry and who wish to extend their skills to an advanced level. The qualification consists of three mandatory units:

Unit 1 Explore commercial craft briefs

This unit provides you with the opportunity to interact with clients to help develop your skills of working with others and responding to their needs and commercial ventures. You will respond with ideas and suggestions, develop plans, schedules and examples. You will also consider financial applications and communicate with the client for feedback and clarification.

Unit 2 Craft techniques, materials, tool and equipment

During this unit you will take responsibility for your own work to extend your use of matierals and techniques to an advanced level. You will respond to the requirements of a client brief and will develop your ideas by working with complex and uncertain parameters taking health and safety into account.

Unit 3 Produce craft work in response to a commercial brief

In this unit you will have the opportunity to plan, produce and reflect on the work you create. You will strengthen and embed a continual process of planning, doing and evaluating which will form the basis of your professional practice. You will produce high quality pieces of craft work which will be suitable to support applications to professional employment or entry into higher education.

This is a vocational qualification with 120 guided learning hours. During this time you can expecting to be involved in formal learning activities which will include classes and tutorial, coaching and mentoring and supervised practical work.

All of our Study Programmes are designed to help you to develop your skills and widen your college experience.

What you should expect from your Study Programme:

  • A substantial qualification e.g. GCSE, A level or vocational equivalent
  • Meaningful work experience
  • Help to achieve GCSE English and maths at grades A*-C if you do not already have them
  • Practical activities that help your personal development including study skills, enrichment activities, employability training and classes in personal and social skills to get you ready for further education or employment.
  • Support to enable you to progress to the next level of study or employment

English and Maths

English and Maths skills are vital for employment and to secure a place on courses at a higher level, including university.

We have a team of tutors who will work with you to achieve these essential qualifications and enable you to apply these skills in your day to day activities and work.

Since September 2013 any young person who does not achieve their GCSE in English language and mathematics at grade C or above will have to continue their studies at college. Students who have a grade D in either subject must study these subjects at GCSE level.
