The team at our hair and beauty salon are a team of professionals and we offer a range of hair services including stylish cuts, colouring and hair extensions.

Vacancy  Description

 

We are looking for a Hairdressing apprentice with some experience and is already Level 2 qualified.

 

As a Level 3 apprentice you will be working towards delivering the following functions:

 

• Provide hairdressing consultation services

• Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques

• Promote additional services or products to customers

• Monitor procedures to safely control work operations

• Colour hair using a variety of techniques

• Provide colour correction services

• Creatively style and dress hair

 

You will also help with the following tasks: • shampooing and conditioning • advising on minor hair and scalp problems • making appointments and handling payments • ordering materials • Making sure that hair products containing chemicals are used and stored correctly • Mixing tints and applying them • Starting/Finishing blow dry’s etc

 

Working Week

A minimum of 30 hours per week. One day per week will be in College supported by the employer

Skills Required

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to work with hands

Qualifications required

Must have a level 2 in hairdressing alread

Ideally a minimum of GCSE grades A-E or a Level 1 in English and Maths Functional Skills would have to be gained by the end of the programme. A real passion for hairdressing is the key to this role.

Training to be provided

The Hairdressing Level 3 apprenticeship involves attending College one day per week (term-time only, near Duke Street) to gain the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hair and Functional Skills Level 1 in English and Maths. If GCSEs are already held then the apprentice will not need the Functional Skills. 

The apprentice will also have workplace visits every 3-4 weeks for workplace assessment.

Expected duration 

24 Months

Future Prospects

On successful completion of the apprenticeship the post will be reviewed and there may be the opportunity of a full-time position

Important Information

Must have good transport access to the salon.

Other Important Information to be Considered

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by the Government for non-levy paying employers. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.
