Vital Energi are excited to launch our third intake of our successful Apprenticeship Programme and are now welcoming applications for our Craft Apprenticeship Programme. On our Craft Apprenticeship Programme you will study a Level 3 Building Services Engineering Craftsperson qualification which will be delivered at our VE Training Centre.


What will the apprentice be doing?

Reporting to the Department Manager/Supervisor you will:

  • Learn pipework fabrication and jointing techniques for industrial and commercial systems, including prefabricated and/or modularised components and distribution systems
  • Develop your welding skills on a wide range of materials working towards a Class 1 standard
    Carry out the installation of plumbing and heating systems including accurate measuring, marking, cutting, bending and jointing metallic and non-metallic pipework
  • Understand and apply electro fusion jointing techniques on our heat networks
  • Assist testing and commissioning activities on site
  • Carry out planned energy centre and residential accommodation maintenance with our O&M teams
  • Understand installation techniques for metering & billing solutions
  • Understand H&S requirements and how to comply with safe working practices

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Apprentices will attend block releases throughout the year at The City of Liverpool College and our training centre in Blackburn, working towards a Level 3 BTEC in Building Services Engineering.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

At Vital, apprenticeships are just the start! We will support you through rotational placements whilst you are with us, allowing you to experience all aspects of the business. After completion of your apprenticeship you will have an opportunity to apply for a permanent role in your chosen area. From Pre-Construction to Operations and Maintenance, we will work collaboratively to find the right career for you.


Apprenticeship Details

Annual wage

£14,000.00

Competitive salary – £14,000 upon commencement of apprenticeship with regular reviews throughout your training/employment (London weighting will apply where applicable) Benefits: 33 Days Holiday including Bank Holidays Healthcare/EAP scheme

Working week

Monday – Friday, shifts to be confirmed.

Total hours per week: 40
