Number of positions (1)

Work hours will be shift work from 8 am till 5.30pm amounting to a 30 hour week over 4 days and including a 1 hour lunch each day. Times to be agreed. Total hours per week: 30.00

Weekly wage – £111.00

 

Orchard Day Nursery is a privately owned nursery that offers childcare and education to children aged between four months and five years. It is open from 8am until 5.30pm for 52 weeks a year, closing only on Bank Holidays. The setting has worked very hard to achieve an excellent reputation and currently has an outstanding rating from OFSTED.

We have a vacancy for an apprentice chef at  The Orchard Day nursery in their popular BBQ restaurant. The orchard Day Nursery use locally sourced, fresh ingredients and the main duties and responsibilities for our apprentice commis chef are:

  • Maintain health, hygiene and safety when storing and preparing food
  • Prepare basic vegetable dishes
  • Prepare basic meat and poultry dishes
  • Prepare pasta dishes
  • Prepare basic soups
  • Prepare basic fish dishes
  • Prepare different desserts
  • Set up and close kitchen
  • Take directions and guidance from supervisors and managers.
  • Help set up and close down the kitchens

Desired qualifications

  • Ideally a Level 1 catering/hospitality qualification and a minimum of Entry Level 3 in maths and English but a real passion and interest in cooking is the key to this role

Training to be provided

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Hospitality Services (Food Preparation) – one day per week at Duke Street site in Liverpool city centre plus Functional Skills in English and maths if required
