What to expect from the course
- The City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Aviation Operations has been designed for candidates who work or want to work in the aviation sector on the ground. The qualification allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the aviation sector, it can also lead to progression to Level 2 Introduction to Air Cabin Crew, Level 3 Diploma in Aviation operations and onto Higher Education.
A range of industry based units are covered including Health and Safety within Aviation, Aviation Security, Aviation Communication, Airport check in services, Aircraft boarding and arrival services, Airport baggage processing, Loading and unloading of aircraft, Aviation passengers with specific requirements, Aircraft Dispatch, Aircraft Marshalling and Aircraft Load Instruction Report.
An airside trip to Liverpool John Lennon Airport is planned (circumstances permitting) as well as guest speakers from industry.

Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Microsoft Office 365 - Free
When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.
Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite
The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.
Career pathways
- Full and part-time employment in a range of aviation roles including passenger services, ground handling, dispatch, and security operations. It can also lead to progression to Level 2 Introduction to Air Cabin Crew, Level 3 Diploma in Aviation operations

Entry Requirements
Entry requirements for our courses depend on the specific requirements of each Programme of Study and your personal experience. The following is a guide to what you might be expected to achieve to gain entry onto the course.
Entry criteria will be for learners who have progressed from any Foundation or level 1 provision.
Or
New learners that hold a range of GCSE grades of 3 and 4 or above and/or level 1 qualifications.
Or
Learners that have either have no GCSE Grade 4/C in Maths and English, or one
grade 4/C in Maths or English
An interest in the topic and good attitude to learning are important to enable you to achieve success on this course.
Fees
If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free.
