The introduction to counselling concepts is an 8 week programme for people who are interested in embarking on a career in counselling, have an interest in counselling other people but have not received any formal training, and people who work in education, health and care carers and part of their job role is related to supporting, advocating or empowering service users.
What will I learn?
This course will aim to :
• Enhance verbal communication skills, empathy, listening skills, use of silence and respect for others.
• Provide basic understanding of what counselling is and the skills required to be a counsellor, delivered from trained, skilled, qualified and experienced counselling teachers
• Improve personal growth, development, self-confidence and esteem.

The course is internally accredited by the City of Liverpool College and on completion of this course, successful learners will have the opportunity to progress on to a level 3 accredited counselling course.
The course is open to adult learners (aged 19+) and there is no formal entry requirement, other than a keen interest in developing skills and knowledge of counselling and its role in supporting other people.
