The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma is an advanced and industry related Digital and Computing course, involving practical and professional skills development. This course mirrors local and national needs and demands as Creative and Digital skills shortages are increasing. You will have the opportunity to work with employers such as Siemens, Laing O'Rourke and the NHS for live projects across the duration of your course, gaining expert advice.
This 2 year course is fast-paced and provides an excellent platform for students wishing to progress to Higher Education or enter the Digital industry. You will have the opportunity to complete industry specific work experience with a local employer, fully supported by the course team.

This course is based at our £2.5 million Digital Academy, the Academy is equipped with the very latest technology and resources.
Course Content:
This two year full time course is designed for students looking for a career as an IT/Digital expert. Units are carefully selected to enable you to progress in a way that suits your immediate and future needs.
Specialist advice and guidance will be available at the end of year one to help you with university choices or to assist you in selecting the best route into employment. The final qualification is equivalent to three A Levels worth up to 168 UCAS points under the new UCAS tariff table and is well regarded by Higher Education institutions for progression.
This course is Advanced Learning Loan eligible, which can fully cover the course fees.
Qualifications
Year 1
BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Information Technology (9 units and equates to 1.5 A levels)
Year 2
BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Information Technology (18 units and equates to 3 A levels)
Maths and / or English GCSE or Functional Skills
This course leads to...
On completion of the course most students will go on to do a Digital related degree in Higher Education. Some may go on to further training and/or training whilst in employment.
Please note that for some university courses you may need GCSE English and/or Maths and Science at grade C or above. You must check this with the universities you may wish to apply to.
Entry Requirements
In order to be accepted on the course you will need at least 5 relevant GCSEs A*-C / 4-9, including English Language and Maths or a Distinction in a relevant Level 2 such as a BTEC Diploma with English and Maths level 2 equivalencies.
(For English and Maths a grade 5 or above under the new grading scheme is required).
You must also demonstrate a keen commitment to study, be able to take responsibility for your own behaviour and learning and equip yourself with the necessary resources to enable you to successfully achieve this demanding yet rewarding qualification.
Progression onto year two will be subject to passing all unit work set in year one (personal issues and challenges will be taken into consideration). Your progress, attendance, punctuality and any disciplinary status will be monitored and reviewed in order to assess suitability for progression.
