Course informationThe UAL Level 2 Diploma in Digital Games Design and Development is a fast paced practical, work-related course. You learn by completing cutting edge projects and assignments that are based on realistic industry situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you will develop the skills you need to progress onto level 3. The course is the equivalent to four GCSEs which means when you have finished the course you can choose from a number of Level 3 courses to apply for.
What will I learn?
You will gain a valuable insight into the world of games development, which will include: 3D modelling, concept art, game design, user experience, idea generation, asset creation, game engine, Unreal Engine 4 and Photoshop skills. You will also be completing live briefs and building a professional portfolio as well as using and developing skills in the latest industry standard software.
As part of the interview process we will be assessing your ability to represent your ideas visually. Please bring a portfolio or samples of your visual work. We are mainly looking for drawings/sketches, sketch books, photos, digital images, graphics, 3D, or a collection of design ideas. Try to avoid anime, Manga and Cartoons, we would much rather see observational drawing. Don’t worry if you haven’t got any of these at the moment; you still have time before the interview date to produce some examples of how your ideas might look visually. Please ensure you bring these with you as if you arrive without them it will mean we cannot offer you a place on the course.
