What to expect from the course

BTEC Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Engineering is a vocational (work related) course involving practical and theory based work. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area you are interested in, you will develop the skills you need to start and/or further develop your education and career.

Core units you may study include - The Engineered World, Investigating an Engineered Product, Interpreting and Using Engineering Information and Mathematics for Engineering.


Specialist units you may study include - Health and Safety, Computer-aided Engineering, Electronic Circuit Design and Construction, Electrical and Mechanical Science for Engineering, Engineering Assembly, Engineering
Maintenance, Engineering Materials.


16-19 students with no English and Maths at grade 4 or above you will have to sit them along side this course.

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

Microsoft Office 365 - Free

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of three GCSEs including English, Maths and Science, and at least a grade 4 and above in either English or Maths.

All students will sit an initial assessment.

Fees

If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free.
