BTEC Level 2 Diploma Manufacturing
This is a vocational (work related) course involving practical and theory based work. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area you are interested in, you will develop the skills you need to start and/or further develop your education and career.
Core units you may study include - Applied Electrical and Mechanical Science for Technicians, Mathematics for Engineering Technicians, Working Practices in Engineering and Using and Interpreting Engineering Information.
Dependant on your chosen path will determine which direction you will go into either the Manufacturing or Electrical side of the engineering course.
Manufacturing:-
Specialist units you may study include - Fabrication Technology, Selecting and Using Engineering Processes, Using CAD Techniques, Welding Processes.
Electronics:-
Specialist units you may study include - Electronic Devices and Communication Applications, Electronic Maintenance Fundamentals, Electronic Circuit Construction and Testing, PC Hardware and Software Installation.
This is also a vocational (work related) course involving mainly practical work and you will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations developing skills you need for future employment.
Core units you may study include - Working Safely in an Engineering Environment, Carrying out Engineering Activities Efficiently and Effectively, Using and Communicating Technical Information
Specialist units you may study depending on the pathway include - Engineering Drawings using a CAD System, Using Computer Software Packages to assist with Engineering Activities, Engineering Project Planning, Fabrication and Welding Applications, Preparing and Using Manual MIG, MAG and Other Continuous Wire Welding Equipment etc.
Under 19 if no English and Maths at grade C or above you will have to sit them along side this course.

Qualifications

BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Engineering (Manufacturing).

Employment opportunities and apprenticeships in various engineering sectors.
Progression to Level 3 Diplomas in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical/Manufacturing)


Entry Requirements

A sound secondary education. A minimum of three GCSEs Grades D-E in Mathematics, Science, English or CDT.
Students without any formal entry requirements but with appropriate work experience will be considered at interview.
All students will sit an initial assessment.

If you are aged between 19-23 and don’t already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, and you need to study at Entry or Level 1 to progress to Level 2, you won't have to pay any fees for this course.
