English language is an essential subject that will benefit you in all subjects and your future career. Our English staff are committed to helping you achieve your grades and aim to positively deliver English in a way that best suits your needs. Our staff bring passion to the lessons and deliver classes which are uplifting and exhilarating. Our aim is to inspire our students to enjoy their experience of English and to approach the subject in fresh and exciting ways.
Here is what one student had to say:
‘I hated English at school and did appallingly, I was dreading doing it again at college. This last year has changed my mind, it’s now my favourite subject and I look forward to lessons.’
You will learn to appreciate English and achieve your grades through inspirational lessons. You will also decide on many aspects of your own course, like: creative writing, reading, fiction, spoken language and speaking and listening. There are extra workshops throughout the year to help you improve on your spelling, punctuation and grammar. All written work and speaking and listening activities are tailored to your interests, career prospects and contemporary news items. Where possible you will choose the topics!
English will help you across all your subjects, in your future career and in life. GCSE English Language is not only a requirement set by the government, it is also a requirement for all universities, further education and Apprenticeships. English naturally compliments many other subjects including: History, Psychology, Sociology, Media Studies, Literature, Creative Writing, Law, Politics, Theology, Journalism and the Arts. English at GCSE is also essential for the Sciences, BTECs and vocational education.

Where will it take me?
GCSE English Language unlocks the doors to all Further and Higher Education. Without achieving your ‘C’ grade you cannot progress to A-levels, Level 3 courses or University. Our staff work hard to ensure you will get the grades you need, while learning to love the subject too.
You will need to have 2 Grade C's or a level 1 equivalent qualification in a relevant subject,
achieved within the last 5 years.
