Course informationThis course is suitable for people with a L2 qualification or significant paid industry experience.
The course includes: • Interpreting techniques • Code of practice • Specific language fields such as law, health and benefits • Role play and practical work • Simultaneous and consecutive interpreting techniques • Employment opportunities
The course assessment has three components:
• A recorded oral role play (externally assessed)
• A sight translation (externally assessed)
• A written assignment
How to apply:
You can make an initial application online at www.liv-coll.ac.uk. You will be then be placed on a list for the next available course. Depending on when you apply you may wait several months for the next available course – your application will be rolled over to the next start date.
If you have attended a Level 2 Interpreting course with us then you teacher will forward your name for Level 3.

QualificationsOpen Awards L3 Interpreting Skills Certificate
This course leads to...The L3 Interpreting Skills certificate or the L7 Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) awarded by the Institute of Linguists
It can also lead to direct sessional employment as an interpreter.
Entry RequirementsApplicants must be:
• Over 20 years of age
• Be educated to Level 2 standard in English (or an equivalent)
• Demonstrate sufficient levels of written and spoken English in assessment and interview.
• Demonstrate a background in interpreting either through completing Level 2 or having industry experience.
