Course informationCombined with your ambition, drive and talent, this Music Production HNC focuses on how to create and produce music products, with a strong emphasis on developing a range of commercial skills needed to work with new technology and concepts within the digital market place.
You will study the following units:

• Marketing for Musicians and Promotion
• Professional Development
• Applied Sound Principles
• Recording Technology
• Creative Software Techniques
• Music for Sound and Pictures
• Composition Using Technology.
Skills and Knowledge Developed:
You will develop a wide range of technical and professional skills for production, composition, performance with technology, business, and research. Students are also supported to develop realistic and achievable career plans to help them reach their goals within the industry.
Within a few minutes’ walk of Liverpool city centre, you will be based at the College’s Arts Centre - a creative hub for students studying music, performing arts, media, journalism, art, fashion and computing. You will have access to professional recording studios, computer suites and rehearsal facilities. Also located on this campus is the College’s Apple Authorised Training Centre for Education (AATCe) and Roland Music Academy.

QualificationsMusic Production Higher National Certificate
This course leads to...Upon successful completion of the programme, students will be able to progress onto Degree programmes or higher vocational qualifications such as a BTEC HND etc.
Entry RequirementsBTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at DMM or above or minimum 2 A-levels, including Music, at grade C or above. Being a degree-level programme, you will be expected to have a high level of practical music skills (around Grade 6), and Music Theory knowledge at around Grade 5 level. Mature students with appropriate experience and knowledge may be waived the usual qualifications requirements, subject to passing an audition and music theory assessment. You must also be able to work with a high level of independence and keep to strict deadlines.
