The level 1 programme for 16-18s is a great way to start your career. It enables you to develop the skills and confidence to progress in college and into work. You will develop a wide range of skills in your chosen subject area as well as gaining qualifications in English, maths and ICT.
The course in Plastering offers you the opportunity to study a range of plastering skills. and help your progress through the other levels of training offered within plastering. You will be assessed for your English and maths and work at the level that’s right for you. Most people know one part of the plasterer’s work; applying wet finishes to walls, ceilings and floors. This is called solid plastering. There is also fibrous plastering, which involves making ornamental plasterwork in a workshop or on site; the kind of plasterwork you see on the ceilings of decorative buildings. As a plasterer you will need a good head for heights, good attention to detail and be a good team player.

• Prepare Background Surfaces to Receive Materials
• Cut Components to Required Dimensions

You will have a personal tutor and a weekly tutorial.
CSKILLS Award Level 1 Diploma in Plastering
This course leads to...
On successful completion you may be able to progress onto Level 2 courses like:
• C.A.A Award Level 2 Diploma in Plastering
• C.A.A NVQ in Plastering (if employed as a plasterer)
You must be 16-18. You do not need to have any formal qualifications in Plastering but you will need to show that you have an interest in the area. You will need to be at Entry 3 or above in English/ESOL and maths (GCSE grades F and G).
Important Note :
All students are required to wear appropriate protective equipment in the workshops, including safety boots and overalls. Students may be able to purchase these through the college at a reduced cost.
