What to expect from the course

Welcome to the Pottery - Ceramics Short Course for Adults, starting this January with convenient evening classes. This course offers a comprehensive introduction to pottery and ceramics techniques, making it perfect for beginners with no prior experience. Over the duration of the course, you will learn essential skills in materials, construction techniques, glazing, and firing. In addition, you will gain a thorough understanding of health and safety procedures in a functioning ceramics studio. This hands-on course allows you to develop your creativity while building a portfolio of evidence and research, which will be invaluable for further study or personal development.

Instruction and Independent Working

This course combines structured instruction with opportunities for independent working. You will receive guidance from experienced instructors during classroom lectures and practical workshops, and have the chance to apply what you've learned in various pottery-related activities. Our specialists will be on hand to assist with any technical or creative challenges, ensuring you gain the confidence and skills needed to work effectively in ceramics.

Upon completion of this course, you will receive the UAL Level 2 Award and Diploma in Art and Design

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

Entry Requirements

To enrol in this course, you should:

Be aged 19 or over on 31st August

Have a keen interest in pottery and ceramics

Be committed to attending evening classes once a week

No prior experience in ceramics is required

Fees

If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free.
