Apprenticeships

Apprenticeship programmes blend practical experience with knowledge of the industry and are a combination of evaluation in the workplace, online assessment and college-based learning. You can tailor an apprenticeship to make sure it meets your business needs and the industry in which you operate.

Upskill or recruit?

If there’s a skills shortage in your business, Apprenticeships could be the answer.  They are a cost-effective way to take on enthusiastic young talent, or provide current staff with essential new skills.
Upskill existing staff

If you want to develop the skills of your current workforce, apprenticeships are available to people of all ages and range from intermediate up to degree level, which means that staff can be developed at different levels of your organisation.

Statistics show that investing in the workforce through an apprenticeship programme, can lead to an increase in business outputs by raising levels of motivation and career prospects for staff.

New recruits

Taking on an apprentice is a great way to fill a skills gap.  You also have an opportunity to shape the apprentice’s learning and development in line with the procedures of your business, so they learn to work the way you do.  As far as recruitment in concerned, it is an efficient way to secure your business by employing young apprentices keen to kick-start their careers.

To help you find the best candidate for the job, we offer employers a free and friendly recruitment service.

Apprenticeship FAQs

What is an Apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship is a genuine job with an accompanying training assessment and skills development programme. It’s a way for individuals to earn while they learn and gain valuable skills and knowledge in a specific job role. The apprentice achieves this through a wide mix of learning in the workplace, formal off-the-job training and the opportunity to practise new skills in a real-work environment.

Apprenticeships benefit both employer and the individual, and by boosting the skills of the workforce, they also contribute towards improved economic productivity.

Who are they for?

Apprenticeships are available to individuals aged 16 and over who want to combine paid work with study, as they gain skills and knowledge in a specific job.

Apprentices can be new recruits or current employees, and we will either work with you to match your business needs with new applicants, or develop existing talent within your workforce.

Why hire an apprentice?

Hiring an apprentice is not only a great way to grow talent that is tailored to your business, but it can also develop a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce.

The benefits of hiring an apprentice include:

  • increased productivity in the workplace
  • development of the latest skills within your team
  • increased employee satisfaction
