Overview

A Vehicle Damage Mechanical, Electrical and Trim Technician works in the vehicle body repair sector of the motor industry. The role is to identify damaged mechanical and electrical components on a damaged Car/Light & Heavy Commercial Vehicles and remove and refit these components before and after body repair work has been carried out.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Typically, the Accident Repair Technician works in a modern highly technical workshop-type environment, working on a broad range of vehicles from cars and car derived vans to light and heavy commercial vehicle
  • Uniquely, they work on and obtain a level of competence in all craft aspects of vehicle accident repair, including Mechanical, Electrical & Trim (MET); Panel Repair & Replacement; – not just one as has been the case in the past
  • Additionally, the Accident Repair Technician is able to interpret and work accurately to detailed and complex technical repair specifications / instructions and, at times, obtain these instructions from a range of electronic sources
  • An Accident Repair Technician has the ability to work in a focused, analytical and methodical fashion, completing repairs on time, every time with a right-first-time, customer focused culture under-pinning all their activities

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Apprentices will attend The City of Liverpool College on a day release basis, working towards their Level 3 apprenticeship programme
  • Apprentices without Level 2 maths and English will also be enrolled on Functional Skills as part of their apprenticeship programme

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • Successful completion of this apprenticeship may lead to a full time role as a qualified Vehicle Damage Technician

    £8,754.20

  • Working week

    Monday – Friday, Exact shifts to be confirmed

    Total hours per week: 35

  • 36 Months
