The University Centre

Welcome to Higher Education at one of the largest, most successful colleges in the country.

We’re sure you’ll get a great all round experience when you study on one of our HE programmes, as it centres around you, to make sure you both flourish and achieve your full potential.

Our aim is to help you develop the higher level skills needed to succeed in the industry you have chosen for a career.  You’re already half way there with ability and enthusiasm for your subject, now we’ll provide the highly skilled, industry experienced tutors and real-work environment in which to thrive.  Add to this the all important network of support we offer our undergraduates in all thing learning, finance and well-being, because we understand the challenges faced by all students, either progressing or returning to higher level study.

Our Foundation, Honours and Postgraduate degrees are wide and varied and can be studies either full- or part-time.  These are designed in collaboration with industry to ensure you leave us with the calibre, skills and knowledge an employer expects in a graduate of higher education.

Welcome from the Principal

I’m pleased that you are considering The City of Liverpool College for your next step towards future success.

Becoming a City of Liverpool College student gives you access to specialist facilities and award winning tutors, who come with a wealth of knowledge and industry experience, as well as great contacts with industry leaders.   I think it’s important to know that the quality of our teaching is recognised nationally, and in 2019 The City of Liverpool College was awarded ‘Silver’ under the Teaching Excellence Framework by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) for exceptional quality and standards in education.

We have a wide range of first class higher education programmes on offer which have been designed in collaboration with employers and universities, including higher national certificates and diplomas and foundation degrees, and there are clearly mapped out progression opportunities to ‘top up’ to honours degree, which means many of our graduates choose to stay at the College to continue their studies at honours degree level. You should also know that learning can be tailored to your needs, with flexible study that works around your employment and home commitments.

But it isn’t all about work, as our students have access to a thriving Student Union and extra-curricular opportunities, with the student engagement team providing support not only for college-wide social events but also for those wanting to develop their own business ideas and ambitions.

Students who study with us are offered a high quality academic experience and unique opportunities for progression, that come as a result of strong links with industry and partnerships with other higher education institutions. Also, our graduates find that qualifications earned with us stand them in good stead when choosing further study or moving into employment.

I do hope you decide to take your next step at The City of Liverpool College.  You can be assured that in doing so you’ll become a valued member of our student community – respected, challenged, and supported to succeed.

Best wishes,

Elaine Bowker – Principal & Chief Executive

The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF)

TEF is a government scheme that recognises excellence in learning and teaching at universities, colleges and other higher education providers. It compiles information about HE institutions that allows students to make an informed choice about where to study.

In 2019, the Higher Education provision at The City of Liverpool College was awarded ‘SILVER’ in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF)

‘Based on the evidence available, the TEF Panel judged that the higher education provider delivers consistently good teaching, learning and outcomes for its students. It is of high quality found in the UK.’
