  • This level 3 course is taught at our Clarence Street building, 3 days per week over 1 academic year.

What to expect from the course

The Access to Higher Education Science Diploma is a Level 3 qualification which prepares you for university study if you don't have traditional qualifications.

The core subjects you'll study are Pure and Applied Mathematics and Engineering. Alongside these subjects, you'll also develop your academic skills in a supportive environment, which will allow you to make the transition to degree level.

You will have access to outstanding academic and pastoral support, detailed online materials and the full Microsoft 365 suite during your time with us. You'll be taught by a team of specialist teachers with extensive knowledge of their subject areas. We have considerable experience and expertise working with adult learners who have taken either a short or a long break from formal education.

The course content is suited to anyone who is confident in their mathematics ability (GCSE grade 5 or above).

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

Microsoft Office 365 - Free

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

This course is for students wishing to progress onto university study in a range of disciplines including mathematics, computer science, software engineering, economics, investment finance, actuarial science, statistics, architecture, or other science-based courses.

Entry Requirements

You must be aged 19 or over to study this qualification.

You will need a GCSE grade 4/C or above in English. The course content is suited to anyone who is confident in their mathematics ability (GCSE grade 5 or above). Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths or other equivalent qualifications will be considered.

Fees

This course is only available to learners aged 19 and over. If you are aged between 19-23 and don’t have 2 A-Levels (or equivalent), you won't have to pay any fees for this course.

24 years old or over or 19-23 and have 2 A-Levels (or equivalent) at the start of the course? Fees are payable, but you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of your course.
