About the Apprenticeship
Create, plan and promote a collection of hairstyles and looks that reflects their own individuality.

About the Role
Advanced and Creative Hair Professionals are creative, passionate, and driven professionals who work without supervision, managing themselves and others when required. They provide a quality service, whilst working to the highest standards and continuously developing their personal and professional skills. An Advanced and Creative Hair Professional works in the hair industry, which is one of the largest, most trusted and fashion forward professions. They take ownership of their work and client lists, accept responsibility, are proactive, flexible and adaptable, plan their work and time, they aim for excellence by taking exceptional pride in their work and industry.


On-Programme Learning
Apprentices need to complete 20% off-the-job training during the on-programme phase of their apprenticeship.Specific rules govern this and it must take place in the apprentice’s contracted hours.

Knowledge
Apprentices will develop a knowledge and understanding of the principles and stages of planning, researching and developing fashion forward trends, different media types and platforms. They will understand how a collection of hairstyle looks can be used to promote individuals and salons, and the methods of presenting showcasing and promoting the collection of hairstyle looks internally using a visual medium.

Skills
Stylists will be able to carry out in-depth consultation and complex analysis of the client hair to plan, create and style the collection of hairstyle looks. They will maintain effective and safe methods of working and effective communication.They will have skills in sectioning and cutting guidelines to achieve the required look, precision and personalised cutting techniques tailored to suit individual characteristics, creative finishing and dressing techniques and advanced creative colouring.

Behaviours
Apprentices facilitate safe working practices, ensuring the safety of self and others, challenges safety issues. They will have good problem solving skills and work to identify and ensure root causes are resolved, demonstrating a tenacious approach. They will be flexible and adaptable and demonstrate and encourage curiosity to foster new ways of thinking and working. Apprentices will demonstrate individual flair and imagination using fashion forward trends in hair.

Duke Street is also home to The Academy Hair and Beauty salons. They offer generous student discounts on a wide range of hair and beauty treatments, at a fraction of high-street prices. These include styling, cutting, perming, highlights, facials, manicures, electrolysis and traditional and homeopathic massage.

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

    Entry Requirements

    Entry requirements are typically determined b y the employer, but generally include 5 GCSE' s grade A-C, or ability to demonstrate the a ppropriate knowledge, skills and competency l evels and a Level 2 Hair Professional or equi valent qualification
