What to expect from the course

This subject is a general programme which covers all the core elements of Art & Design. It is designed to allow maximum opportunity to explore your chosen themes. Good working methods are encouraged to enable you to work in a professional and creative way.
Drawing is seen as a fundamental part of the course as is critical studies. We make full use of the Museums and Art Galleries on Merseyside to increase greater knowledge and understanding of the subject. The AS and A2 is studied over 1 year on a part time basis. The course is fine art endorsed which means students will produce work that is within the fine art specialist area which includes drawing and painting.
For 16-18 year old (daytime) students, this A Level will be one of four A Levels you choose to make up a full time programme of study. You will study for a total of 18 hours per week plus one hour per week tutorial.
Students who successfully complete AS with grades A-C will be able to apply for the second year, A2 element of the programme.
To gain a full A2 qualification in Art and Design, students must undertake the same endorsement at both AS and A2.
