What to expect from the course

Unleash your creativity and enthusiasm for fashion in our exciting Fashion Design and Sewing Machine Evening Course. From late January to early May, this comprehensive course is designed to take you on a journey through fashion design techniques, pattern cutting processes, sewing machine skills, and garment construction. With a focus on health and safety awareness, you'll have the opportunity to design and create a custom-fitted piece of clothing, tailored to a specific body shape and size.

Course Details:

Duration: 22nd January 2024 - 4th May 2024 (The course schedule excludes half terms and holidays).

Timing: Weekly sessions Wednesdays (6:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

Location: The City of Liverpool College, The Arts Centre, Myrtle Street, L7 7JA

Course Curriculum:

The 'Fashion Design and Sewing Machine Course' brings the art of fashion design and garment construction to life. You'll immerse yourself in the following topics:

- Introduction to Fashion Design Techniques and Processes
- Mastering Pattern Cutting for Garments
- Essential Sewing Machine Skills and Techniques
- Constructing Garments with Precision
- Achieving Garment Finishes
- Health and Safety Awareness in the Fashion Studio
- Understanding Fabrics and Textiles
- Designing and Creating Custom-Fitted Garments

Hands-on Learning:

Throughout the course, you'll participate in hands-on projects that combine fashion design theory with practical sewing machine skills. Guided by our expert tutors, you'll create unique garments, honing your proficiency in garment construction and finishing. A highlight of this course is the opportunity to design and construct a bespoke piece of clothing, customized to perfectly fit a specific body shape and size. This personalised project allows you to unleash your creativity and bring your unique fashion vision to life. The course includes essential health and safety awareness training, ensuring you can confidently work in a fashion studio environment.

At The City of Liverpool College, we value the learning experience of each student. Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

Microsoft Office 365 - Free

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

Fees

If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free.
