What to expect from the course
- There are two distinctly different job roles within this occupational profile: Hairdresser and Barber. Hairdressers will be able to shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using a range of techniques, style and finish hair to create variety of looks, and colour and lighten hair for ladies and men. Barbers will be able to shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using barbering techniques, style and finish hair, cut facial hair into shape and provide shaving services for men. Hairdressers and barbers must be able to work with all hair types ranging from straight hair to very curly, wiry hair. They also need to be able to carry out consultations with clients, demonstrate the professionalism, values, behaviours, communication skills and safe working practices associated with their role and be able to work without supervision to a high level of precision, with exceptional client care skills.
Earnings:
The National Minimum Wage for an Apprentice is £4.15 per hour - however most employers tend to pay significantly above this rate. As skills develop many employers tend to increase wages.
The hourly rate is paid for time working in the workplace and training both on and off the job including College time.
Apprentices aged 19 years or over who have already spent a year on an apprenticeship must be paid for at least the full National Minimum Wage appropriate to their age:
18-20 years £6.45 per hour
21-24 years £8.20 per hour
25 and over £8.72 per hour
Holidays:
Holidays will be agreed with the employer. The minimum entitlement is 20 days per year plus Bank Holidays.Qualifications

The City of Liverpool College will provide an Apprenticeship Training Manual for each student, access to C&G Smart Screen online learning resources, access to online EPA preparation tool personalised to the individual student and additional EPA pack and guidance. The College will also ensure that tuition for any additional Maths and English qualifications required will be provided to the level required for the standard.

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

Microsoft Office 365 - Free
When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.
Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite
The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

L3 Hairdressing Apprenticeship
ILM management apprenticeships: L3 Team Leader/Supervisor, L4 Project Manager, L5 Operations/Departmental Manager, L6 Chartered Manager Degree and L7 Senior Leader Master's Degree.
