Course information
This course is at intermediate level in the Health and Social Care sector. You will be led by dedicated tutors with experience from a variety of settings such as nursing, hospitals and social care areas.
The aim of the course is to provide learners with knowledge and understanding of core subject areas in Health and social care and to support progression to further learning or into the workplace. Learners must achieve the unit assessments for the 5 mandatory units and 2 optional units.
The units are designed to cover the body of content that employers and educators in the sector consider essential for this level. They will also support the remainder of learning needed for this qualification. Your work will be internally assessed, applying your knowledge, skills and understanding.
This qualification is graded A* - D. It will be assessed using a range of methods. Learners are encouraged to attend work placement in order to support their learning. 30 hours of placement in a Real Work environment

Other Level 3 qualifications such as in Health and Social Care, before University subjects in Nursing, Midwifery and allied health professions.
This qualification allows progression directly in to employment as social carers or healthcare assistants.
Entry Requirements
You are required to have the following:
- 3 GCSEs including English Language and Maths GCSE Grade D or 3
- Two satisfactory references (essential)
- Commitment to equal opportunities
- The qualities needed to be an effective Health and Social Care worker. It is essential that all students can work as part of a team and be able to respond to adults in a responsible manner.
