- Within this course you will develop your skills and work on industry styled projects.
- 1-year course taught over 3 or 4 days, Maths and English will be studied alongside at GCSE or Functional Skills.
- Start: September.
- Full academic year (September – June).
- Study in our state-of-the-art Digital Academy at our Arts Centre campus.

Computer networks
You will research the online world and technology systems, design and create a mobile app, learn about networking and creating your own network, install hardware into computers as part of your assignment and learn how this can be maintained. Our very own robot, Pepper will make an appearance and you will design, develop and install a program. Finally, you will learn the importance of computer security and apply your knowledge in securing machines in our computer hardware room.
How is it assessed?
You will be internally assessed through assignments set and marked by your teachers. Work will be graded at a Pass, Merit or Distinction.
Two externally assessed exams at the end of the year.Qualifications

Microsoft Office 365 - Free
When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.
Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite
The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.
Career pathways
On successful completion of this course, you’ll be ready to progress onto our Level 3 Diploma in IT. Progression is not restricted and there is still opportunity to progress into our Level 3 Diploma in Games Development.
If you also achieve your maths and English then this will open the opportunity to progress to a T-level in Digital Support Services or Digital Production, Design and Development.

Entry Requirements
Open to learners of all ages.
Ideal for you if you have a Level 1 qualification or equivalent. (Grade 2s and 3s in Maths and English).
Fees
If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free. If you are aged between 19-23 and don’t already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, and you need to study at Entry or Level 1 to progress to Level 2, you won't have to pay any fees for this course.
